สารภาพตามตรงว่าตอนแรกคิดว่าจะไม่มีโอกาสได้ทำ book haul ประจำเดือนกันยายนแล้วซะอีก เพราะไม่คิดว่าจะมีโอกาสได้ซื้อหนังสือใหม่อะไรเลยจริงๆ มันเริ่มจากไปสัญญิงสัญญากับเบบี๋ว่าต่อนี้ไปจะอ่านแต่หนังสือดีๆอย่างเดียวแล้ว จะงดเว้นการซื้อนิยายที่อ่านเอาฟินไปวันๆแล้ว ก็เลยคิดว่าคงจะไม่ได้เสียเงินซื้ออะไร ปรากฎผิดคาดมากที่ช่วงปลายเดือนร้าน Dasa เจ้าประจำอัพเดทลิสท์หนังสือใหม่ประจำวัน มีหนังสือที่โดนใจอยู่หลายเล่มด้วยกันและยังมีเซลล์ต้อนรับหน้าฝนอีก จึงทำให้เกิด book haul ขึ้นมาได้ในที่สุดค่ะ เอาละ ไม่ให้เสียเวลาก็เริ่มกันเลยแล้วกันเนอะ

1. The Catcher in the Rye - J.D. Salinger

ความจริงเห็นหนังสือเล่มนี้ติดในลิสท์คลาสสิคที่ต้องอ่านมาก็นานนม แต่ไม่เคยรู้เลยว่ามันเกี่ยวกับอะไร เคยได้ยินเบบี๋บอกว่าหนังสือเล่มนี้ดีนะ อ่านสิ แต่ก็ยังเฉยๆไม่ได้รู้สึกกระตุ้นอะไร จนวันนึงลองหาข้อมูลดู ไปเจอใครสักคนเขียนไว้ในพันทิปว่านี่คือหนังสือที่มือปืนที่ลอบสังหาร John Lennon อ่านก่อนจะออกไปลอบสังหาร เท่านั้นแหละ ตาเบิกโพลงเลย หนังสือที่ได้รับการกล่าวขวัญถึงในแง่นี้มันต้องมีอะไรแน่ๆ และเราจะไม่ยอมพลาดเด็ดขาด ได้มาในสภาพเหมือนใหม่ที่ราคา 120 บาทค่ะ คุ้มมากๆ

2. The Five People You Meet in Heaven - Mitch Albom

เป็นอีกเล่มที่เราไม่รู้อะไรเกี่ยวกับมันเลย แต่ซื้อเพราะว่าเราได้เห็นผลงานอีกเล่มของเขาบ่อยๆคือ The First Phone Call from Heaven บอกไม่ถูกเหมือนกันว่าทำไมถึงซื้อ แต่เข้าไปดูเรทติ้งใน Goodreads แล้วเชื่อมั่นว่าจะต้องดีแน่ เลยสอยมาแบบง่ายๆงงๆที่ราคา 90 บาทค่ะ สภาพก็ดีีอีกแล้ว 

3. On the Road - Jack Kerouac

เล่มนี้ถือว่าซื้อแบบมีข้อมูลที่ชัดเจนค่ะ เจอจากกระทู้เห่อของตัวเองในพันทิปนี่แหละ มีคนมาเห่อเอาไว้ พอถามรายละเอียดถึงรู้ว่าเกี่ยวกับการเดินทางท่องเที่ยวของเพื่อนกลุ่มนึงในอเมริกา และเคยทำเป็นหนังมาก่อนด้วย ก็เลยทำให้อยากอ่านค่ะ เสียดายว่าไม่ใช่หน้าปกที่ชอบ แต่สภาพยังดีอยู่มากๆค่ะ ราคา 150 บาทสำหรับเล่มนี้

และเดือนนี้ก็ทำสถิติแค่ 3 เล่มค่ะ มือสองทั้งหมด ถือว่าไม่มากไม่น้อยเกินไปนะคะ ซื้อมากๆคงไม่ไหวเพราะปลายเดือนนี้ยังต้องเก็บงบไปงานหนังสืออีก แล้วหลังจากที่ไปช็อปงานหนังสือก็คงจะได้เอามาเห่อให้ชมกันค่ะ

10 Books Challenge for ABAW

ช่วงเดือนที่ผ่านมากระแส challenge กำลังมาแรงไปทั่วทุกหย่อมหญ้าค่ะ ทั้ง ice bucket หรือ rice bucket และอีกกระแสที่มาแรงใน Facebook ก็คือ challenge เกี่ยวกับหนังสือ หนัง และเพลงที่ชอบ ซึ่งเราเองก็ไม่วายที่จะโดนแท็กมาอยู่ดีค่ะ จากเบบี๋ของเรานั่นเอง และหนังสือโปรด 10 เล่มในลิสท์ของเราจะมีอะไรบ้างก็ต้องตามตามชมกันเลยค่ะ

1. Totto-Chan: The Little Girl at the Window - Tetsuko Kuroyanagi

This is my very first YA book I read. My mum likes this book so much and she recommended it to me since I was 6. It's about a little girl named Tetsuko-chan who was studying in an elementary school during World War II. She couldn't pronounce her name properly. All she could say is Totto-chan. She is so naive and sweet, sometimes annoying. Her friends from school and her headmaster are so adorable too. That's why this book became my all time favourite Japanese novel.

2. Shanghai Baby - Wei Hui

The book has been released in Thai version on the year 2002. It's about a girl named Nikki. She always wanted to be famous as a writer. She lived her live with passion and lust in conservative family and Chinese society. This novel is banned in China yet it's a bestseller in many countries. I read it when I was only 17 and love it so badly.

3. Odd Girl Out - Rachel Simmons

This book is about girls bullying. I grew up with the thought that I don't like to be friend with girl while I'm a girl obviously. Then I found this book in the year 2004 if I'm not mistaken. It's good for every girl who wants to figure out her own emotional and causes in girlfriend relationship. Even boys or men can read it to understand girls' culture better.

4. The Broken Wings - Khalil Gibran

Khall Gibran describes his love for Selma Karamy that against the taboo of Lebanese society. I read in Thai version and it's super heartbroken. I don't know if this book is too mature for me because I read it since I was only 14. I read it again when I was 27 and I think I could understand it a lot better.

5. Only Love Is Real - Dr. Brian L. Weiss

To make it simple; it's all about the soulmates reunited. Dr.Weiss is kind of a psychiatrist who can hypnotise his client. Once he hypnotised two of his client, the truth has been revealed. I think it's romantic and stunning.

6. Why We Buy - Paco Underhill

As I was a marketing student once and so into branding for a long time, this book is kind of my marketing Bible. If you're in business industry, even just an officer, you should read it once. If you have a plan to sell something or own a shop, you must read it too. Paco makes marketing and branding easy for non-experienced reader. I used this book as a reference for my essay many times.

7. South of the Border, West of the Sun - Haruki Murakami

He's a famous contemporary novelist from Japan and his books are also very popular in Thailand. Back into early 2011, I didn't know how famous in my country he is. Then one of my friend told me that I should read his work and she recommended Norwegian Wood for me. I bought it in English version. After I had read it, I've found that it's so hard to understand. I didn't get the point Murakami wants to say and I haven't finished it up till now. But South of the Border, West of the Sun is different. I could read it in just one sitting. I love it so badly. Most of his works are related to loneliness, sex, cat and jazz bar. It's kind of good combination and becomes his signature.

8. Letters to a Young Poet - Rainer Maria Rilke

He is my inspiration. I know him and his works from a movie, Sister Act 2. If you want to be a writer or a poet, you should read this book and other works of him.

9. Enchantée, Paris - Varinda Alonso

This book is about love story of Thai woman named Ai in Paris and Korean man who is her classmate. This may sound normal or a bit cheesy. It's even more dramatic if you know that both of them are already married. Varinda describes Parisienne lifestyle, architecture, language study system for foreigners so well. It's like she combines her own experience with her novel. Her story is so real. I felt like I was a small insect that stick to Ai's purse or backpack and go around Paris with her. 

10. The Kite Runner - Khaled Hosseini

He is my all time favourite writer. I knew his book from one of my friend who likes to watch indy movie and I like to read Middle Asia literature. I cried a lot when I read his books.

ต้องขอโทษเล็กน้อยที่อัพบล็อกตอนนี้เป็นภาษาอังกฤษเกือบทั้งหมด เนื่องมาจากเขียนให้คนในกรุ๊ป ABAW อ่าน ซึ่งหลายๆคนในนั้นอ่านภาษาไทยไม่ออกรวมทั้งเบบี๋ด้วย ก็เลยร่ายยาวเป็นอังกฤษล้วนด้วยประการฉะนี้แล ยังไงทนอ่านเอาหน่อยแล้วกันนะ ฝึกภาษาๆ อิอิ
